I did a cold volume output test on my hydrogen generator installed on my AMC Gremlin. I ran a jump lead across the switch on the throttle linkage that cuts off the unit at idle so the unit would continue to run while engine was idling. This way I could perform this in car test without having to have my foot on the throttle. Output was slightly more than .5 liter in 30 seconds or one liter per minute +. Ammeter in the car is horrible and hard to trust accuracy, but seems to be running at somewhere over 20 amps to possibly as high as 30 amps. After one hour run time the leads are not hot on the unit. The wire size is 10 gauge with connectors soldered on. The leads that protrude from the unit connecting to the electrodes are 1/4" SS bolts. I tightened the connectors between two nuts securely for a good contact. So far the leads have not gotten hot, so I feel more comfortable continuing to run this at the current amperage. Any input most welcome.

Nov 23, 2008 - You're right, I'll try that with the "T" fitting. I need to buy about 10 nylon "T" fittings with all of the modifications I'm planning including a way to drain this for freezing weather.I'll check out zerofossilfuel's information on the volt meter mods. Thanks!

Nov 26, 2008 - I put a bottle of weak electrolyte, roughly about half strength I normally use, of NaOH in my freezer to test it. This was a 2 liter bottle, slightly less than my unit with the electrodes actually holds, and it did not freeze solid even after 8 hours with the freezer door never being opened. NaOH has a strong antifreeze property naturally according to information I've been reading on the Internet. This is good news for those of us in the South as we'll never see temperatures this low that long.

Nov 20, 2008 - the caps ok but you kan get quicker control of your tester with a t fitting inline, you cover the t fitting with your finger when you hit the timer and only have to uncover the t fitting to let the gas out of the testor.a volt meter can double as a good amp meter if you build a shunt with zerofosilfules directions.
