Over 25 years ago I performed in heavy metal bands immersed in the 70's-80's party mentality. It was a detrimental lifestyle(emphasis on "mental"). In 1990 I experienced a devastating spinal injury in a work related accident that left me permanently disabled and in constant pain. Since some people fake work related injuries to commit insurance fraud I was constantly being misjudged. When all was said and done the only people who believed me was my mom and original doctor. I think even my lawyer didn't believe me. One time while crying from the pain sitting in the hospital I said to my mom," Jesus knows my pain"..."He believes me".
